Climbing from Yosemite to Squamish to Indian Creek this summer.

Hey, I'll be continuing my van tour in the US and Canada this summer and it would be great to climb with some partners that I might be able to keep when I head back to Switzerland. I'm actually here in Switzerland right now, taking a break from the van and I'm looking for some ski touring and ski mountaineering buddies while I'm here. Perhaps if you're thinking of heading to the US or Canada for climbing this summer we can do a quick ski tour together and see if we'd want to meet up on the other continent.

I could use this for a future trip buddy! I manage a busy work and family life but manage to squeeze out a decent amount of climbing during work trips.

I spent 4 weeks in Indian Creek, Zion National Park and Colorado with a single committed climbing partner in 2017 and it turned out pretty efficient, barely 3-4 rest/travel days and an amazing trip overall. I love to do more such trips in the future.

Squamish: I could get only 2 days climbing whilst on a tight work trip in Aug 2015 but it was also spectacular; that is where a kind local climber not only offered to climb with me but also taught me trad climbing, I did my first trad lead of my life there! I so want to go back there and do a few routes on the Chief as well as shorter routes.

This year: Trip 1 (partners confirmed, one for each whole week): 19-26 May in Italy/Ticino. 27 May - 02 June: Dolomites. We could try and meet if possible in this trip if you are around? We'll decide the venue based on weather conditions then.

Trip 2: Tentative: 27 June to ~10 or 14 July, I can do another trip. I am still discussing this with my old friends in Switzerland and I will seriously consider doing this trip if I get solid climbing partnerships for 2 weeks (at least one week per partner, else coordination becomes too much; I'd rather climb in the Himalayas for which I have ready partners). But I am a Europhile, my heart is in the Alps :)

Trip 3: Tentative: Chicago 6-10 Aug, after which I can take 4-10 days off depending on what partners I get.

Trip 4: Tentative: 10-31 December. I will probably come on a work trip in the first week of December, after which I'd like to spend 2-4 weeks with a like-minded partner/mentor to hone my ice/mixed climbing skills. Can travel anywhere in the US or Canada and put in serious effort to learn. Unfortunately I don't ski (and don't intend to invest in learning it) and my cold tolerance isn't great but that hasn't prevented me from enjoying ice-climbing on the brief occasions that I have got to do it...

Next year if I have a committed partner I would love to spend 2 weeks or more in Bugaboos/Canmore/Squamish etc. For some reason Yosemite hasn't captivated my heart yet, maybe because I think it is too hardcore for me, but as I progress over the years I am open for it too.

Whoever is reading this, hope this will trigger some ideas in your mind and/or heart :) I am here for the long haul; I hope to keep climbing and working hard this way for another 20 years at least :)
