Camping around Matterhorn

Hi all,

I would like to attempt the Matterhorn in the coming week from the Hörnligrat. The plan would have been to camp or bivy somewhere at the beginning of the route because this year the hut is closed for renovation. However I just read an article that says camping there is now forbidden and the offical campsite should be used...

Has anyone been there recently and knows if this is really true and if there are people checking for wild camping/bivying? I know that the temporary campsite is a bit below the old hut (approx 400m) and I was actually planning to stay as close as possible to the beginning of the route.

Last year I attempted the route already and remember that outside the hut there were a few people with tents so I don't really understand why this year camping has been declared illegal.
